Nowadays we see more and more vendors are selling software that enables consumer to watch satellite TV program on their PC. The set up of the satellite-to-pc system is unbelievable cheap and I believe it attracts lots of consumer trying it. While it might suits someone’s appetite, satellite-to-pc system is definitely not for me at the moment.

The reason behind? Here’s why.

<h2>Reliality of free satellite TV program on PC</h2>

The consistency of satellite-to-PC program highly depends on the quality of my Internet services. While my Internet service provider (ISP) do regularly fail to give me high speed Internet and sometimes even server down, it in turn bring down my other entertainment – TVs in case I am using satellite-to-pc program. 

Then how PC system? Virus attacks, bugs in operating systems, Trojan files – all these might cause you hours to format and fix. When these problems come in, it goes directly to my so call PC satellite TV as well where I might need to reinstall the satellite-to-PC software and reset all my program channels.

<h2>Complicated installation</h2>

I think satellite-to-PC program is a cool product but personally I am worry the complicating set up process. From a consumer point of view, transferring satellite TV program to PC requires set up in computer hardware and installation of software; it does not look simple to me. But, if we want a satellite-to-PC program, we need to do all this by ourselves – what if something went wrong during the set up process? What if I screw up? Is there someone that I can call to? The question remains unanswered in most of the vendor website I visited.

<h3>Comparing satellite-to-PC with normal satellite TV service</h3>

Okay, once again I have to stress that I am extremely impressed with the price of satellite-to-PC service when compare to my usual satellite TV service. With most of the case, setting up satellite-to-pc is even cheaper than half of my monthly subscription fees in Dish Network.

But cheap is one thing, entertainment is another. I certainly do not enjoy watching at my small computer screen for TV entertainments. I certainly do not enjoy all my family members sitting crowded in my room look at my 19” monitor… and I certainly do not enjoy transferring my house into cable house if I ever thought of transferring the TV image from my PC to my TV at living room.

<h4>Conclusion</h4>

Personally I would not choose free satellite TV on PC over my Dish Network. Yes, I do pay extra for the satellite TV program subscriptions, but I enjoy the entertainment, I got full customer service support from them, and I get free four room satellite TV system from them.

But hey! That is my personal point of view. It might not suit you though. Who knows you enjoy working at your table while watching PC TV? Who knows you prefer budget stuffs compare to top notch entertainment? It depends.

A Diamond is a mineral made of carbon that is crystallized. In fact a diamond is more than 99.95% pure carbon. The remaining 0.05 percent of the elements often influences the crystal’s color and shape. The diamond is also by far the hardest natural substance known to man. Diamonds form between 75 and 120 miles below the earth’s surface. Only at these great depths do the necessary temperature and pressure exist to form this unique gem. Diamonds were delivered to the surface by volcanic eruptions. These eruptions occurred over 50 million years ago. Geologists believe that the first delivery occurred more than 2.5 llion years ago. After reaching the surface, some diamonds settled back into their volcanic pipes. Other diamonds were washed hundreds of miles away by floods and rivers. Some diamonds reached the oceans and were washed back onto the beach. The first diamond mines were discovered in India before 500 BC. India has been the world’s major supplier of diamonds for over 2,000 years, producing some of the most famous diamonds. Today, India accounts for only a tiny percentage of the world’s diamond production. Today’s diamond production leaders are currently Australia, Botswana, Russia, South Africa, Zaire and Canada. Before being transformed into a beautiful piece of jewelry, the diamond must undergo several stages.

STAGE 1 - MINING
The diamonds that made it to the surface were forced up volcanically, through kimberlite pipes. A typical pipe mine consists of a large vertical shaft with tunnels running from the main pipe. The deepest mine runs 3,500 feet down into the earth. More than 200 tons of rock, gravel and sand need to be blasted, crushed and processed to yield just one carat of gem quality diamonds. Finding diamonds and getting them out of the ground may require the use of jet engines to thaw the frozen ground or to endure the sweltering desert heat. Only 20% of all rough diamonds are suitable for polishing; the rest are used for industrial purposes. Once the rough is found the diamond’s journey begins.

STAGE 2 - ROUGH REACHES THE MARKET
A large proportion of the world’s rough supply finds its way to De Beers’ Central Selling Organization (CSO). The rough the CSO buys is sorted into more than 5,000 different categories. Once the rough is sorted and priced, it is sold to manufacturers at sights. There are ten sights a year, each lasting a week. The chosen few afforded the chance to purchase at these sights are called sight holders. The balance of the world’s rough supply is sold to private buyers, and some through private auctions.

STAGE 3 - MANUFACTURING THE DIAMOND
Regardless of the source, all rough eventually finds its way to the cutting centers. Today, the major cutting centers are Antwerp, Israel, Bombay, Johannesburg, and New York. Upon reaching its destination the rough is carefully examined to decide how it should be cut to yield the greatest value. After the stone’s shape and size are determined, taking into consideration the rough’s shape, as well as the number and position of its internal inclusions, the stone is marked and usually sawed or cleaved.
The stone then goes through a series of cutters who each have their own specialty. Finally the diamond is polished and ready for sale.

STAGE 4 - THE FINAL JOURNEY
After a diamond is manufactured it needs to be sold. For decades diamond manufacturers have sold their cut diamonds to jewelry manufacturers and diamond wholesalers who in turn, sell to jewelry wholesalers and to retail jewelry stores. Today’s technology is changing the diamond pipeline. Diamond manufacturers now have a direct link to the final customer.

After a long, exhausting day you came home, had your dinner and then sat in front of the TV looking for a nice relaxing movie. Nothing! Then suddenly you remembered that you bought the CD of the new, Oscar-winning movie “Million Dollar Baby“. You took out your laptop, inserted the first CD and hit “play”. To your surprise, the only thing you could see was a green screen. You took out the CD, cursing at the media market that gave you a “broken” CD for the fifth time. Tried the second CD; again the frustrating green screen. First thing in the morning, you took your “broken” movies and went to the shop. Having yelled at the owner of the shop for five minutes, you suddenly noticed the cynical smile on the guy’s face. Having the opportunity to talk, the shop keeper said “CODEX”.

All you needed were the codecs for these movies. They were not broken; they were just coded in a “foreign” language to your media player. The codecs were the dictionary that your laptop had to use to translate the absurd computer language to the nice scenes of the movies.

Every video, audio, picture or even word document files are coded in a different way. In the case of g data entries like movies, the computer has to use different algorithms to compress the data so that the size does not exceed the standard limits. We see this compression in PDF files (Acrobat Reader), in MP3 files (WinAMP), in MPEG files (movies), in each and every data storage file that you can imagine. While the compression is being done, the programs use some kind of a dictionary. Without these “dictionaries” (codecs in the case of video and audio files) the code would seem as meaningless to the player or the viewer as it is to you. So you have to install certain codecs to be able to use certain files.

Some codecs replace the repetitive symbols over the file, ome codecs changes the aspect ratio of the movie; some of them decrease the quality of the picture and yet, all of them turn gigabytes of data into fair size that can fit into a CD or a DVD.

As the user demands increases, codecs are multiplying in a logarithmic scale. There are several codecs that are musts for movie fans, however. You should install most of these if you don’t want to be disappointed.

1. MPEG4 - It is the default codec which is already included in WMP.
2. DIVX - A series of sound and display codex which come with shareware DIVX player.
3. XVID - Relatively new, one of the most used video codecs.
4. AC3 - Most common sound codec.
5. Intel Indeo - Rather useful series of codec which a new version pops out everyday.

Overall the way movies are encoded is changing day by day. Everyday we see a new aspect ratio. Everyday we encounter a new codec. To many, it would seem that it is getting harder and hard to watch movies. The least you can do is to download a codec viewer program which would help you on your quest for a pleasant evening.

The upcoming festive season can be a major headache to weight-watchers due to the temptation that started confronting them the moment the stores went into holiday mode. Rule 5. Over the holiday move your exercise pattern up to the next level. - If you walk for 30 minutes each day normally, increase it to 45 minutes during the holiday period. You can make this three 15-minute walks if this suits your schedule better. Naturally if you can make it one-hour exercise that is even better but do not over-extend yourself, particularly if you have a medical condition.

Rule 6. Now set the program that will make this extra weight go-away after the festive season. For each pound you wish to lose each week you need to burn off 200 calories each day by exercise and eat 300 calories less each day. 500 calories each day is easy.
